🧭 Post 6 of 6 | Lead, Last, and Stay Sharp — The Inner Work of Executive Growth

This is the final post in my 6-part series on executive transitions, adapted from my chapter in Coaching Perspectives X.

You’ve stepped into your role, built trust, led your team, and learned to navigate the hidden currents of politics and presence.

Now comes the part few talk about:
How do you stay effective, relevant, and resilient over time — without burning out?

🧠 The best executives keep evolving

Leadership isn’t a destination. It’s a moving target.

I’ve coached partners, VPs, and founders who were brilliant
 but had stalled.
Why? Because they stopped learning. Or they let success dull their edge.

Innovation doesn’t come from comfort. It comes from staying curious, challenged, and open.

💡 Here’s what I remind my executive clients:

  • Success is a cycle, not a peak. You have to keep climbing.

  • Make time to recharge — your energy is your most strategic resource.

  • Protect your clarity. Step back regularly to see what’s really working.

  • Build space for reflection. Coaching isn’t just a remedy — it’s a performance tool.

đŸ§˜đŸŒâ€â™‚ïž Leadership is human work

You’re leading teams. Making decisions. Navigating change.
You can’t do that well if your tank is empty or your vision is narrow.

That’s why I advocate for what I call the inner work of leadership:
Staying grounded, curious, balanced — and willing to rethink what’s next.

📘 In Coaching Perspectives X, I wrote this chapter not just to help new executives land well, but to thrive sustainably — with focus, resilience, and integrity.

Thank you for following this 6-part series. If it resonated with you, I’d love to hear what your own journey has taught you.
